Golftoberfest is Northwest Arkansas’ original mini-golf tournament and scholarship fundraiser! It’s just like a regular golf tournament — but on a miniature golf course and lots more fun — with a shotgun start, hole-in-one contest prizes, and even goody bags and tee-shirts for participants.
Parents Complete Their Educations to Create Better, Brighter Futures for Their Families
The host of this family-friendly event is Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas (SPSF-NWA). The heart and spirit of Northwest Arkansas is one of giving to others in need, and this non-profit group helps deserving parents complete their educations and provide brighter futures for their families through higher education. Each year, such parents receive scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $6,000 to help them earn their college degrees and begin their careers, many of which are in helping professions such as teaching and nursing.
Scholarship Recipients Strive to Succeed
The success rate of those parents who receive scholarships is most impressive. They have a cumulative GPA of 3.35 and a graduation/retention rate of 83%. Simply put, these scholarship recipients are determined to succeed. Each year, approximately 25 recipients graduate and are poised to provide independently for their families. All of us benefit from fewer families relying on government assistance programs, and our community becomes even stronger.
Golftoberfest has become an autumn tradition that reflects the culture of helping that is such an intrinsic part of NW Arkansas, and SPSF-NWA serves families in Washington, Madison, and Carroll counties and is part of a network of affiliates that serve the entire state.
Area Companies Can Participate and Benefit in Several Ways
Company teams, area residents, and SPSF NWA recipients and their families find this is a great way to get out and play golf while creating better, brighter futures for single parents and their children.
A wide variety of options are open to companies who wish to participate. Forming a team and having a great afternoon of team-building fun is one way. Sponsoring the event itself is another way, and sponsor benefits can include verbal acknowledgement of a company at Golftoberfest, product placement at the event and in goody bags, signage on the course, logo on the t-shirt, and more.
Golftoberfest 2017 is Saturday, October 7th and will be held at Gator Golf in Fayetteville with tee times of 10 am and 12:30 pm. Registration is $15 for individuals and $60 for teams. To register or for more information, go to http://www.spsfnwa.org/events/golftoberfest/
