We know because we’ve been there.
1. You can pull that info quickly and easily yourself.
You are asking great questions about our data. It wouldn’t take much for me to show you how to find a lot of these answers for yourself — like “What are the top 5 stores for this item?” — and we’d both save a lot of time!
2. I make it look easy.
I put a lot of time and effort in creating that very simple, one-sheet report you want to see on Monday morning. It’s easy to make things look hard, but hard to make things look easy.
3. Don’t talk to me on Monday morning.
While everyone on our team was watching Sunday Night Football, I was pulling the data we’ll use to improve our business this week. Please make sure to give me some space while I finish this work on Monday morning.
4. Sometimes you’re asking for something that sounds simple, but getting to the information is actually pretty complicated.
For example, you just want to compare the item velocity for these 5 items at those 5 stores over the last week. It sounds like that should be 3 simple things, but it’s actually close to 50 lines of data! Let’s discuss these requests a bit before diving right in.
5. Yes, Retail Link is still loading.
6. I can do a lot more than just pull data.
Someday I want to move into a larger role on the team. Give me a chance and some time to show you how I can do more than simply report historical data.
7. I need help with Retail Link.
There are people on our team or in my peer group with years of experience working with Walmart and Retail Link, but they don’t always have time to answer my questions. I know Retail Link is a massive system that can help us grow our business, but I need more information and education to make the most of this great tool.
